Distinguished members of the Press, respected community leaders, officers of the Nigeria police force, sisters in uniform and the good people of Zamfara State.
It is with profound gratitude to the Almighty Allah that I stand before you today, march 30th, 2026 with a deep sense of responsibility, humility,and unwavering commitment as I assume office as the 35th indigenous Commissioner of police in this esteemed state which coincides with the celebration of National police Day.
I wish to express my deepest and sincere appreciation to the Inspector General of police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwanu Disu psc, Npm who deemed me capable of leading the most troubled state in the north west region. My gratitude also extends to the entire security personnel serving in the command and the citizens for their trust in me.
COMMENCEMENT OF THE NATIONAL POLICE DAY 2026 CELEBRATION.
The National police Day celebration commence today the 30th of march – 7th of April 2026. The occasion is geared towards partnership and networking with members of the public, enhancing mutual trust,rule of law compliance and policing with a human face.
In line with the above, a series of activities are lined up and we call upon members of the public especially critical stakeholders to actively participate in the scheduled activities because, “the police is the society and the society is the police”.
THE TASK AHEAD
Zamfara state is strategically vital to Nigerians security and overcoming its security challenges Will have a ripple effect on the entire North and by extension the country in General.
The state faces several security crises especially violent crimes and criminality making it the highest crime rates in Nigeria’s North West region.
Armed banditry, kidnappings and violent attacks on communities that appear to be soft targets has plagued the state since 2015 resulting in significant fatalities and abductions.The conflict has disrupted education and farming activities which is the mainstay of the economy.
Guided by the Vission and Mission of the inspector General of Police, we are determined to reinvigorate our security architecture and redouble our efforts with a mission to dismantle these criminal networks.
My vision is clear: to build a Zamfara State where peace,security,and justice are guaranteed for all where policing is not only effective, but fair, inclusive,and trusted by the people .
Our mission is to uphold the rule of law with professionalism and integrity, while working together with Communities and stakeholders to create a safer environment, whilst building public confidence in the police.
We are committed to ensuring that every citizen regardless of gender or background is treated with dignity and respect.
We believe policing must go beyond enforcement. It must be human-centred. It must listen,engage,and protect. By strengthening partnerships,promotion inclusivity, and maintaining accountability,we can build a system that truly serves the people.
We will give the IGP Olatunji Rilwanu Disu psc NPm support for the NPF to become a People orientated institution that prioritises the rule of law and transparent operational protocols through evidence – based budgeting, Community Policing strategies and digital transformation.
Together,we can foster trust, enhance security,and create a future where law enforcement and the community stand united.
