The Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, has charged newly sworn-in commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, the Chairman and members of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission (SOSIEC), and members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly Service Commission to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Speaking shortly after administering the oath of office and allegiance to the appointees at the Government House, council chamber,Sokoto, Governor Aliyu described their appointments as a call to selfless service and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
The governor said the appointments reflected his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and improving public service delivery, stressing that the confidence reposed in the appointees must be justified through dedication, hard work and exemplary conduct.
He urged the newly inaugurated officials to lead by example, discharge their duties with honesty, transparency and discipline, and always place the interests of the people above personal considerations.
Governor Aliyu warned that his administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and would not hesitate to sanction any official found engaging in corrupt practices or abusing public trust.
“We will not tolerate corruption in any form. Every appointee is expected to demonstrate integrity, accountability and absolute commitment to the responsibilities entrusted to them,” he said.
The governor specifically charged the commissioners to provide effective leadership in their respective ministries and ensure the successful implementation of government policies and programmes in line with his administration’s development agenda.
He also reminded the permanent secretaries of their responsibilities as accounting officers, urging them to ensure prudent management of public resources, strict compliance with financial regulations and efficient service delivery.
Governor Aliyu further called on the Chairman and members of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission to discharge their constitutional responsibilities with fairness, impartiality and independence, while urging members of the State House of Assembly Service Commission to strengthen the legislative institution through professionalism and diligence.
The governor stressed that teamwork, transparency and commitment were essential to achieving the collective aspiration of building a more prosperous Sokoto State.
Congratulating the appointees, Governor Aliyu noted that their appointments were based on merit and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver on the mandates of their respective offices.
He prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom and good health for the officials as they begin their assignments and urged them to work tirelessly towards advancing the progress and development of Sokoto State.
